Medical notes: 'History. One sister subject to 'fits'. All the family delicate. Suffered from 'low fever' 5 yrs [years] before admn [admission]: up to that time she had enjoyed fair health, though subject to coughs, sore throats, headaches, with or without vomiting of food or yellow matter, diarrhoea and slight skin eruptions: The eyes had been 'weak' since 1869. From the date of this so called 'low fever' she was constantly out of health; the appetite was deficient; there was much epigastric pain after food; she was very 'nervous', readily started or excited; suffered from constant shortness of breath and palpitations; frequent hysteric fits, and occasional rheumatism'
