Medical notes: 'History. Apr. [April] 12. Evening. Pain in R. [Right] side commenced: no vomiting. Apr. [April] 15. 2.30 pm. Pain suddenly became acute, ½ hour after taking a cup of tea. Caused her to double up: no vomiting. Two tabloids given which eased the pain and caused her to sleep. Had been anaemic and dyspeptic for several months: pain immediately after food, lasting about 2 hours. No constipation'
