The Alexandra Hotel opened in 1864 on Hyde Park Corner and is thought to have been designed by Francis E. H. Fowler. In 1941, a bomb exploded in the hotel, causing 24 deaths and 26 serious injuries. It was demolished and rebuilt in 1954.
