Medical notes: 'Admitted with history of 6 months duration of pain after food lasting about 1 ½ hours. Appetite good. No vomiting. Recent loss of weight. Normal micturition – no frequency. Senile old man – faint icteric tint. Nothing definite on examination. Xray meal shewed definite pyloric obstruction. On 27.11.23 Mr Fedden operated and found stenosis due to fibrosis of an old standing ulcer – no signs of malignancy. Posterior gastro-enterostomy was performed. The patient did not do well after the operation and grew steadily weaker. No abnormal gastric symptoms. Two days before he died he developed a bilateral broncho-pneumonia and went quickly down hill, dying 17 days after the operation. At no time were there abnormal urinary symptoms'
