Medical notes: 'Patient had had measles, S.F. [Scarlet Fever], variola as a child. Rheumatic Fever 12-13 yrs [yrs] ago, but otherwise had had good health. There was nothing noteworthy in his family history. A week before admission he had pain and stillness in both knees, and vessels of calves. He also noticed that the legs were swollen. Beyond this there was no complaint of anything definite'
