Disease (transcribed): Extensive ulceration of the larynx with warty exerescences and diffuse cellular inflammation of the pharynx & larynx, spreading to the cellular tissue of the neck. Phthisis & pneumonia. Heart dilated, blood fluid. Tubercles in kidneys. Diffuse cellular inflammation of the arm, with spots of ecchymosis in various parts of the body

Medical notes: 'This man was admitted under the surgeon’s for double hydrocele, which had existed a very considerable period. On the 24th however he was transferred to the physician for cough, shortness of breath, and inability to swallow, when the following history was elicited. It appeared that he was a chaffenter by trade, and about a year ago had coughed up about [6 ounces] of blood’
