Medical notes: 'The child was well till August 3rd when she began to vomit. She was treated at the Victoria Hospital, but she continued to have occasional attacks of vomiting. Two or three days before the patient came to the hospital she began to suffer from jaundice… On enquiry being made as to the possibility of phosphorus poisoning the child’s mother said she had left phosphorus paste on bread in different parts of the room, but she did not think the infant eat it’
