Biopsy of this showed one small areas of early glandular carcinoma. He was sent to Atkinson Morley Convalescent Hospital. Following this he again attended the Out Patient Department complaining of further bleeding and irregularity of the colostomy. He was readmitted in November 1940 with acute pain in the right loin.
