History

Educated at Great Windmill Street School. Student at St George's Hospital Medical School 1825.

House surgeon at St George's Hospital 1838, lecturer and demonstrator of anatomy at Kinnerton Street Medical School; taught Henry Gray. Assistant surgeon at St George's Hospital 1843-1853, surgeon 1853-1863.

Surgeon to the Pimlico Dispensary 1834, surgeon to the Asylum for the Blind and the School for the Indigent Blind.

Died of kidney disease on 28 Apr 1863 at 6 Savile Row. His brother Edmond founded a prize in memory of him in the medical school.
