Medical notes: 'History. Father's brother d. [died] of consumption. Born at full time: suckled 15 mo [months]: lived badly afterwards: always weakly. Always passed quantities of thread worms: always sweated freely at night: subject from earliest years to attacks of frontal headache, with profuse sweating and feverishness (occurring about every 2 mo [months] lasting 24 hours. Cervical abscess at 3 or 4. Lively disposition: not remarkably clever. Loss of flesh for 6 mo [months]. ? Injury to spine. Nine[?] days before admn [admission] he came home, looking very pale and saying that a workman had seized him and shaken him by the hair. In the evening he complained of headache: next day he went to work as usual but came home with increased headache and was obliged to go to bed. On the third day his neck was found to be bent backwards'
