Very painful at times only. Some pain in Rt. [Right] arm. He had syphilis as a young man. He was in bed 5 weeks in Australia and 8 weeks on the voyage home. When admitted; a big healthy looking sun burnt man, not obviously in pain. There was a large expansile pulsating swelling projecting from the upper part of the Rt. [Right] side of the sternum and adjacent part of the neck; and the manubrium and sternal end of the Rt. [Right] clavicle seemed to be eroded'
