Includes images (with handwritten captions) of St George's Hospital (including theatres), Hyde Park, Princess Mary's Wedding Day (1922), the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley (1924), other workplaces in Walsall and Southport, and various personal photographs (including a group labelled 'Memories of Surrey Sundays'), a few of which have been inserted loose.

S. Jones photo album

Blue album (with a gold 'Photographs' stamp on the cover) containing square-format black and white photographs of nurses, wards and buildings at Hyde Park Corner, including multiple pictures of an 'S. Jones' (apparently short for Sister Jones; other names have an 'N.' prefix for 'Nurse'). Captions have been added, possibly at a later date: the first photograph is dated 1903, but the album has a faint inscription (written by/to an 'Alastair') seemingly dated 1919.

Also includes a set of reproductions of the photographs (larger than the originals, but cropped to a rectangular format) made by Gordon Catford (c.1980s-1990s?).

Jean Meadows photo album

Album labelled 'Career' containing photographs featuring or relating to St George's nurse Jean Meadows (née Veronica Jean Cruise), including scenes of nurses, wards, Christmas festivities, royal visits, etc. Also includes press cuttings about visits by two different Duchesses of Kent (Princess Marina and Katharine) and an inserted certificate of completion of the St George's tuberculosis nursing course (1957).

Personal photographs

Miscellaneous personal/portrait photographs of people connected to St George's, including Sister Chapman, Sister Bryant ('looking at Coronation Procession from Drummond Ward'), and Dame Helen Cargill, as well as personal photographs of a 1953 rugby tour (presumably the St George's team?) and a visit of St George's students to Battersea Park Fun Fair.

Many of the photographs have press copyright stamps on the reverse.

Prizegiving ceremonies

Black and white and colour photographs (and some colour contact sheets) of prizegiving ceremonies, featuring nurses receiving prizes/certificates/medals from various dignitaries, including the Duchess of Kent. Most of the photographs have press copyright stamps on the reverse.

Hospital buildings and work scenes

Black and white (and a few colour) photographs of hospital/nursing school buildings and wards at Hyde Park Corner and Tooting (and possibly other sites?), including scenes of nurses at work or taking breaks. Includes shots of the St George's chapel, the School of Nursing entrance and library, Clare House nurses' home, hospital equipment, operating theatres, classrooms, pathology labs, etc.

Most of these photographs date from the mid-twentieth century, but one is a copy of an image from 1898, and two are printed on postcards from the 1900s (one with writing on the reverse). Note that it is possible that some images of other hospitals have been mixed in with the St George's ones.

Tennis/swimming photographs

Black and white photographs (with press copyright stamps on the reverse) of nurses playing tennis or holding tennis trophies (including one shot featuring matron Muriel Powell). Also includes one photograph of a nurses' swimming team in a pool.

Official visits and events

Note that more photographs of the opening of the outpatients department can be found in album NU/6/1/1/2.

Also includes discrete booklet and 'Nursing Times Photographs' wallet containing photos for the 1961 and 1963 prizegivings respectively.

Work scenes and hospital buildings

Black and white (and a few colour) photographs of nurses and other hospital staff working and studying in wards, classrooms, etc., as well as hospital buildings and equipment, including canteens, physiotherapy rooms, the chapel (including an image of the Saint James stained glass window and a textual description of the Nurses' Window), a waiting room, operating theatres, etc. Also includes a photo of nurses being evacuated (c.1940) with accompanying correspondence from the donor and Heather Bond.
