Set of black and white press photographs of the new isolation unit at St George's Hospital (c.1962), stamped 'Nursing Mirror' on the reverse and stored in a Nursing Mirror folder. They are accompanied by correspondence between assistant editor of the Nursing Times (and former St George's nurse) Cecily Collier and matron Muriel Powell, and a typescript and later photocopy (c.2000s?) of a Nursing Times article about the unit. Since the photos in the published article do not match the ones in this folder, it seems probable that the Nursing Mirror and Nursing Times sent separate photographers, and that the Mirror images and Times correspondence got conflated in this folder.
Reproduction of a single black and white photograph of a group of staff and patients (holding a banner from '4B ward') outside the Grove Hospital, Tooting.
Note that this image dates from before the Grove was absorbed into St George's in the 1950s (but after it had dropped the 'Fever' from its original name of Grove Fever Hospital); for later images of the Grove site in its St George's era, see NU/6/2/1/6.
