He had noticed a small lump on the left side of the neck for 6 weeks before admission he was treated for sometime as an O.P. [Out patient], the swelling burst and discharged. He had suffered from morning and evening cough for some years but no haemoptysis, he had lost his voice for 10 days, had no pain or difficulty in swallowing, was losing flesh and strength rather rapidly, no history of syphilis. A brother had died of phthisis'

The bowels were open the day before admission and owing to injudicious diet she became sick and the effort caused the rupture to become strangulated, there was great pain around'
