Medical notes: 'No heritable disease. No previous illness: no ailment but occasional diarrhoea: diaphoresis habitually profuse. Catamenia (from 12 yrs [years] old) profuse and frequent; - 3 to 4 wkly [weekly]; with abdominal and lumbar pain. Malaise for 16 mo [months]: - Frequent abdominal pain, 2-4 monthly catamenia, accompanied by much abdominal pain for the first eight. - Amenorrhoea, with cessation of the pains, progressive weakness and wasting; occasional morning retching, occasional scantiness of urine; and increased diaphoresis for the last eight'
