Medical notes: 'This woman, who had complained for a long time of severe occipital pain, had a fit the day before her admission followed by loss of power on the right side. There was right hemiplegia on admission. No distinct facial paralysis, but the movements of the tongue were performed with much difficulty & her speech, though quite sensible, was thick or hesitating’
