[Left] side of the face is apparent. Nystagmus shown R. [Right] and L. [Left], Cornea less sensitive on the L. [Left] side. There is slight wasting of the L. [Left] arm, which is held to the side, the joints are painful when moved. Small muscles of the hand are paralysed asare [sic] the pronators and supinators of the forearm, there is loss of sensation to pain of the ulnar area and of part of the median area, also there is no discrimination between heat and cold in the forearm. There trophic changes in the skin of the fingers. The heart and l [sic] lungs are normal'

Medical notes: 'History: 14 days illness – the stools were green – the child was groaning and seemed to have pain. Fits and vomiting for 2 days. There was a history of a fall at the time of birth. On admission: 24/1/'22. No pyrexia. There was some stiffness and rigidity of the neck and retraction of the head. Kernig's sign elicited on both sides. Anterior fontanelle bulging. Small hard lump on rt. [right] parietal bone. Course: Lumbar puncture yielded only blood. The convulsive attacks continued and there was occasional vomiting. 12/2/'22 Died'
