On February 6th she complained of abdominal pain, but had no serious symptoms. On February 11th she also complained of pain in the abdomen and was treated with ginger brandy without any benefit. Later in the day a doctor was called in. He diagnosed ‘abdominal obstruction’. Her bowels had not been open for about 3 days’
