Medical notes: 'Her mother died of 'consumption' at 46. No further history of pulmonary disease. She has had very good health up to Dec 1880 when her appetite fell off, and she had occasional vomiting & much headache. Menstruation continued regular. In Jan 1881 she had severe vomiting for 3 days; not apparently immediately excited by food; vomit consisted mostly of undigested food; no blood; no cough'
