Medical notes: 'She was brought to the hospital at 7 o’clock in the evening having a short time before been knocked down by a cart while crossing the street. She was unable to stand and experienced great pain in the left hip. The limb was shortened about an inch & a half, but extension readily restored it to the same length as its fellow; the foot was everted; there was free motion in all directions, but it was painful, more especially on performing adduction’
