His condition otherwise precisely as on his second admission this year - 2nd admission. He complained of nothing in particular beyond dull yellow colour, and of weakness and 'want of spring' in his legs'

While in hospital a swelling began to form in the left side of the abdomen. An exploratory laparotomy was performed and as soon as the tumour was found to be the spleen, the wound was sewn up.
