Medical notes: 'History. Indigestion since 1920. with attacks of pain before meals relieved by food. The attacks last some weeks and leave him free from pain for some time. On admission. 7.4.22. T.P.R. [Temperature, pulse, respiration rate] 98.2, 108, 24. Notes indicate that nothing abnormal was found any where. No abdominal tenderness. Course. Two days' melaena so altered his condition; that operation was advised. Pulse had become rapid and other symptoms of loss of blood appeared. An attempt was made to suture the ulcer, and gastro-enterostomy was performed. Exitus lethalis 11.4.22'

Medical notes: 'History: Enlarged glands in the neck appeared about Dec. [December] 1920. He was admitted in Jan [January] '21 M.R. [Medical Register] 91. There was enlargement of the nexk glands and of the spleen. The diagnosis was confirmed by biopsy. He was treated with X Rays and arsenic and considerable improvement ensured. In June he was sent to A.M.C.H. [Atkinson Morley Convalescent Hospital] but he became worse and was readmitted M.R. [Medical Register] 504/'21. Similar treatment was continued. Waves of pyrexia persisted for some time but finally his condition became stationary. Uptil [sic] a fortnight ago he remained fairly well but then his legs and abdomen began to swell. For the past 4 days he had been getting weaker, his scrotum and penis becam [sic] swollen and he had diarrhoea'
