Medical notes: When seventeen years old she was subject to fits accompanied by cessation of the catamenia and she was moved to an asylum for some time. For ‘three months at least’ she had felt out of sorts and complained of rheumatic pains in the legs, headaches, vertigo, slight oedema of the legs and frequent nocturnal micturition.
