She also said that whilst he was suffering from St Vitus’s dance he lost power in his left arm, and then in his right arm. According to the woman the loss of power was sudden – his arms hung down uselessly, & there was no loss of power in his legs (The most probably explanation of this story appeared to be that the child had rheumatism and for fear of pain did not use his hands)’
