Royal Hospital loose training records: 1964-1970

Loose training record forms (originally stored in a ring binder – some are still connected with treasury tags), arranged alphabetically by surname. Each record contains the following information: name, age/date of birth, address, religion, date training commenced/ended, index number, dates of ward work and leave, and remarks. A few later items of correspondence relating to references have been inserted between the records.

Pupil midwife registers

Registers relating to pupil midwives at Kingston Hospital. The registers take various formats: some record lecture attendance and topics studied; some record details of clinic experience and lists of births at which the pupils assisted; and the remainder (the registers with marbled covers and alphabetical indexes at the front) record personal details of individual pupils, including name, rank, home address, date of birth, date of entry/leaving, religion, training schools and certificates, experience since training, and remarks.

The date ranges of the volumes are as follows:

Oct 1953 – Oct 1959 [continuation of previous register]

Registers of student nurse records, including the following information: name, index number, age/date of birth, date of entry/leaving, address, education, religion, previous experience, number of lectures attended, and exam results.

The date ranges of the volumes are as follows:

Jan 1956 – Oct 1960 [incorrectly labelled with start date of 1953]

Pupil nurse course registers

Registers of pupil nurses' (initially referred to as pupil assistant nurses) lecture/class attendance and assessment. All of the registers from 1968 onwards (and two of the earlier ones: those beginning Jul 1959 and Mar 1964) include pasted/taped-in black and white class photographs, annotated with names, and sometimes other documents including timetables, test papers, and results lists. The date ranges of the volumes are as follows:
