Medical notes: 'The patient lost her sight when she was 3 or 4 months of age. She was in good health till about 5 months before she came to St George’s. She then had abdominal pain and began to notice that her abdomen was increasing in size. About 2 months later she began to suffer from dyspnoea and oedema of the legs’
