Medical notes: 'In 1874 she had an attack of acute rheumatism; the pain chiefly in the knees and hands. No history of cardiac symptoms or sequelae. About Christmas 1879 she again had rheumatism affecting more joints but less severe. She was laid up about a month but since then has been able to work as a barmaid without discomfort. No dyspnoea or oedema noticed'
