Medical notes: 'There was no history of ague. Twelve years before her admission the woman had typhoid fever and was ill for 2 months. She had no other illness of any kind till November 1886 when she vomited dark-coloured fluid ‘like [?] port wine’. At that time she had no pain after food, nor any other symptom pointing to gastric ulcer’
