After a preliminary laryngotomy and ligature of the R. [Right] external carotid, he removed the glands of the right side of the neck and the major portion of the tongue and floor of the mouth. The patient made a most remarkable recovery and was discharged. A fortnight ago he developed a small septic spot on his R. [Right] hand and he neglected this till he became very ill. On admission he had a spreading cellulitis of his R. [Right] hand and arm, a R. [Right] basal bronchopneumonia, and several pyaemic abscesses of his face, chest and scapula and all on the right side of his body'
