Medical notes: 'This man was brought in in a state of epileptic coma. He was found in a fit in the street & was taken to the police station, where at first the case was looked upon as one of drunkenness; but as three or four more fits attacked him he was brought to the hospital where he lay in a state of insensibility up to the time of his death, with almost complete hemiplegia of the left side. He recovered his consciousness for a minute or two in the station house, & informed those present where he lived. It appeared that for four years he had been subject to epileptic fits, & that there was a family history to them. One relative died from disease of the brain & epilepsy, another is at present confined in Hanwell Asylum, & I believe some mention was made of a third member of the family who is of unsound mind’
