Medical notes: 'A man with a most remarkable colour of skin, evidently very anaemic, but with a greyish tinge, white contrasted with a slight tinge of yellow in the eys. His report of himself was that he had first been attacked by what he called a bilious fever 12 months before admission, that at that time he had brought up a little blood, & also passed some by stool, but it did not appear that he had lost any large amount’
