He remained insensible for a fortnight after the accident. At the time he had epistaxis, bleeding from nowhere else. Since the accident had had internal strabismus of the right eye, headache, occasional attacks of giddiness and a noise like the hissing of a kettle in his left ear. His right too had become impaired 'as if there [was] a mist before the eyes', and he had been unable to move his right arm and right leg as well as formerly'
