[months] before admn [admission], she began to suffer from frequent desire of micturition; cutting pain in the act, and scantiness of urine; which was very dark at times. After 3 mo. [months] the pain left her: the other symptoms persisted. She lost flesh from the first: appetite failed after 6 mo. [months]. For 9 wks .[weeks] before admission she suffered from pains on movement about the hips and coccyx. For 6, she had felt her legs numb, and the ground appeared soft under her feet, giving way where they were panted, and rising up again as they were lifted. For five weeks she had been in bed, unable to walk at all'
