He was taken to St Bartholomew's Hospital, where he remained quite insensible for 3 days. No operation was performed. There was no paralysis. He remained in the hospital for 18 months, with occasional pain in the head, otherwise feeling well. He resumed his work as a groom. 2 years afterwards he had a fit, becoming quite insensible'
