On the evening before admission he was in good health; he dropped a key in the dark & whilst stooping groping for it felt no inconvenience but suddenly fell and lay, he thinks, a short time unconscious &, after recovering consciousness, for an hour or so, feeling unable to raise himself & some pain in loins & right arm. He then got up with slight assistance and could walk slowly, noticing only discomfort in the loins & arm'
