Medical notes: 'The patient stated that her mother used to bleed much from the nose, & that one of her brothers suffered in a similar manner. She had gastric fever when 14 years old, & whooping cough in 1887. For the six months preceding admission her nose had bled profusely two or three times a week, often for 5 or 6 hours at a time; & she had menorrhagia’
