Medical notes: This patient had been under the care of Dr Page [William Emanuel Page] about 2 months previously, when she appeared to be in a cachectic state, with sallow complexion, confined bowels, bilious vomiting & headache. She complained of continual noise in her head, and always said that she felt she should go out of her mind. She left the hospital considerably relieved, but was unable to return to her work. She was brought to the hospital with a report that she had had a fit on the previous day, in which she had become quite unconscious, and since that had been violently delirious’
