Medical notes: 'This patient was admitted in a state of insensibility, having been taken suddenly with a fit of an apoplectic character about half an hour prior to admission. When brought to the hospital she was apparently perfectly insensible, her breathing was slow and oppressed, her pupils dilated, her extremities apparently perfectly paralyzed’
