    Medical notes: 'History. Nothing remarkable about previous or family history. Three mo [months] or so before admission the catamenia appeared for the last time. During their continuance and from that period forward she suffered greatly from pain in the loins and hypogastrium. For the first fortnight she was kept in bed by them. A week or two later, pains, called 'rheumatics' commenced in the hands and feet. She commenced to lose strength and flesh. The power began to desert the extensors of the wrist at the same time. She also suffered from severe dull frontal headache, and the urine became turbid, dark, and scalding. She had to keep her from the time that the pains in the extremities commenced. No relief to any of the symptoms occurred before admission, and for the last six weeks, the hypogastric pain was very severe'
