Medical notes: On October 4th 1889 the boy was bitten by a dog above the right wrist. One hour later nitrate of silver was applied to the wounds at St George’s Hospital. The dog was certified by a veterinary surgeon to be suffering from rabies, and when destroyed a cork, part of a champagne bottle and half a lucifer match was found in its stomach.
