Medical notes: About the middle of Feb 1877, he was attacked with cough and spitting, which increased for a week, then diminished under treatment, but never wholly left him. From that time he lost flesh and strength, felt chilly and sweated much at night. Slight haemoptysis commenced early in April and continued to increase.
Body parts examined in the post mortem: Lungs, heart, peritoneum, intestine, liver, kidneys, spleen and brain
