He did remarkably well and nothing of notes occurred till Sep [September] 18th when at 7 p.m., as he was talking cheerfully to a fellow patient his breathing suddenly became very difficult – Face became blue and swollen – A few convulsive struggles and he became comatose. In five months he was dead'
