Medical notes: 'Had always been ailing and delicate. 'Bad eyes' when she was 7 years old. Other brothers and sisters healthy. For a fortnight before admission had had pain and difficulty in breathing, aggravated at times. Pain also on deglutition. She attended for a few days as an out-patient but becoming worse was admitted into the hospital'
