Medical notes: 'Was quite well 6 weeks ago when she developed chronic epigastric pain and loss of appetite. Nausea and occasional vomiting. Became very anaemic, lost weight, and became progressively weaker, and ran a small evening temperature. On admission looked like a case of pernicious anaemia and was emaciated. T [Temperature] 99. P [Pulse] 130. Slight enlargement of the liver – spleen not felt. Tenderness in epigastrium on the R [Right] side. No mass felt'
