Medical notes: 'She was admitted into the hospital on the 9th of March. She had always enjoyed good general health. Five weeks before admission she was confined and a week later she complained of pain in the left iliac region followed by swelling, this increased in size and very painful and tender. She had influenza after the confinement. There was no history of tubercle and had not suffered from a vaginal discharge'
