Disease (transcribed): Compound oblique fracture of the right thigh, followed by diffuse areolar inflammation & also an abscess of the integuments in the sacral region. Secondary pleurisy & lobular pneumonia on left side. Disease of the kidneys & extremely enlarged spleen

The femur was broken at the lower part of the middle third, & the wound, which communicated directly with the fracture, & was on the outer side of the thigh, was large enough to admit the end of the finger’
