Medical notes: 'Previous history unimportant. 3 months before admon [admission] pain in epigastrium, increased by ingesta – with morning vomiting – occasionally repeated during the day. No haematemesis or melaena – No jaundice. Some swelling in stomach region for 3 days before admon [admission]. Onset of illness accompanied by severe diarrhoea, which persisted for 1 month with shiverings'
