Medical notes: 'No history of heritable disease; no scarlet fever: dysentery whilst in India in 1869. In 1879 he had several attacks of pain in right knee & great toe with gouty symptoms; and during these years frequent attacks of cough with much dyspnoea, polyuria, and in March 1880 oedema'
