Medical notes: 'Admitted for a rapidly growing cancer of the L. [Left] Breast of six or seven months duration with severe pain for several months. Wasting last few months. Lumps in L. [Left] axilla and R. [Right] Breast noticed for 2 or 3 weeks. The patient was wasted and cachectic. The L. [Left] Breast was converted into a large prominent mass of growth which stood out freely from the thoracic wall. The skin was involved with many masses of growth and the mass was firmly adherent to the Pectorals'
