Medical notes: 'This man was a painter. He had an attack of lead-colic in 1885, and at the end of 1888 he had gout in the great toe. Of late years he had been liable to asthma. For 7 or 8 weeks before admission he had been troubled with frequent and excessive micturition, especially at night, and this was his reason for coming to the hospital. No history could be obtained of dropsy, and none of haematuria'
